We love everything about the Lake District… yes, even the occasionally sporadic nippy weather! Once you’ve been on one of our self guided cycling holidays in the Lake District, it’s particularly nice to unwind in the evening. Failing that, there is always something fun on through the day!
Well, Lakes Alive, the organisers of Mintfest – the music and arts festival held in Kendal – have teamed up with the Lake District National Park in order to bring a fantastic programme of art and entertainment to the area.
With support from The Arts Council , South Lakeland District Council and the National Park itself to the princely sum of over £200,000, the event promises to be an extravaganza! Already included so far is an event celebrating flight through the ages, which utilises contemporary digital-art technology. It also promises to boast an array of street art and visual arts and will be held up at Brockhole, the Lake District Visitor Centre, Kendal town centre and Windermere.
Interact With the Hills
Whilst the setting for the event is absolutely stunning enough (even if we do say ourselves!), there is also somewhat of an interactive element to the proceedings, with visitors able to explore the landscape in a unique way, which we absolutely can’t wait to try out!
Festival director, Sarah Allen discussed her excitement in being involved in such a fantastic festival stating, “I am thrilled to be working on such an exciting project and in one of the UK’s most beautiful landscapes. I’m looking forward to embracing an inventive approach to festival experience in both familiar and new spaces around the Lakes.”
At Door2Door Adventure, we feel that Cumbria’s communal spirit lends itself perfectly to such festivals, with Kendal Mountain Festival and Ulverston’s Another Fine Fest being prime examples of how the whole area gets out to support such events.
